5 Tips To Maximise Your Reed Diffuser Scent
There’s nothing better than a beautiful aroma. And what better way to enhance your home than a hand-poured, Reiki-infused reed diffuser?
Reed diffusers are a flameless, low-maintenance and attractive way of scenting your home, particularly in Spring and Summer. They have risen in popularity over the years as an effective alternative to other forms of home fragrance products such as candles due to their subtle aroma.
On occasion, however, we might find that reed diffusers do not produce as much fragrance as we might hope. Yet there are tips that can help with this. Find out how to improve the efficiency of your diffuser in order to enjoy your chosen scent for much longer here.
How Do Reed Diffusers Work?
Reed diffusers actually work in a much simpler way than we might think. The reeds are dipped into a base liquid that has been blended with fragrance, allowing the liquid to be absorbed up the length of the reed. Every reed has a porous structure that provides a controlled rate of fragrance release. The scent is therefore diffused into the air, releasing a subtle odour which adds ambience to any setting.
Making the perfect reed diffuser can be difficult, with the base not evaporating properly or reeds clogging up. Our Firefly Loft fibre reeds (4mm thick and 250mm long) work with a Vegan Augeo diffuser base to create a high-quality reed diffuser that works perfectly every time.
How Long Do Reed Diffusers Last?
How To Increase The Scent Of A Reed Diffuser
There are a number of ways to maximise the scent of a reed diffuser which are straightforward and easy to implement. Did you know that the location of your diffuser will make a real difference in how the scent diffuses through your home? Here are our top tips for selecting that perfect spot:
Consider The Size Of The Room
If you have a particularly large room with high ceilings, we would recommend filling the space with more than one diffuser (of the same fragrance) and using all the reeds provided to maximise the scent. For smaller rooms consider reducing the number of reeds by one or two.
Go For A High Traffic Area
The motion in the room and the movement of air help to circulate the scent and throw the fragrance. If a reed diffuser is left in a room with no motion, the scent won’t have a chance to pass through the air as efficiently.
Don’t Place Your Diffuser Beside An Open Window
When air is flowing in and out, your fragrance oil will deplete quicker and lessen the strength of the scent. By placing your reed diffuser just inside the entrance to a room, the scent will work to fill the area and the aroma to circulate around.
Avoid Radiators & Warm Areas
Direct sunlight, radiators, and particularly warm areas of the home will encourage a diffuser to evaporate faster. It is therefore recommended to avoid placing your reed diffuser on a windowsill that is often in the sun as the fragrance oil will deplete quicker, reducing the amount of use you will get from the product.
Keep Your Reed Diffusers At Nose Height
This may seem obvious but it’s important to keep any reed diffuser at nose height or just below to for catch those lovely aromas as they are being released from the reeds. Think about how you use each of your rooms. For example, you are more likely to lie down in your bedroom, whereas you might sit in your living room. By thinking about where you can best catch the scent, you are more likely to actually smell it throughout your day.
